An Active Bystander is a person who witnesses a situation and takes the opportunity to help. This session will encourage and give tips to empower Active Bystanders in the fire service to address inappropriate behaviors when they occur.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will define and understand terms including allyship and active bystander.
  • Participants will identify tools, practices, and confidence to intervene as a bystander.
  • Participants will discuss ways to de-escalate or prevent inappropriate situations from happening.
