Rhonda Cohen is a Firefighter/EMT, serving 30 plus years with the Wheaton Volunteer Rescue Squad in Montgomery County, MD. She has held the position of Sergeant, Master Firefighter, and member on the Board of Directors. In 2022 she joined the First Responder Center for Excellence (FRCE) where she travels nationwide to attend conferences and conventions, educating Firefighters/First Responders on reducing risk of job related disease, and improving physical and mental health. She also participates as a member of the First Responder Center for Excellence Wellness Advisory Board and Maryland Fire Chiefs Association Safety and Health Committee.
As a passionate advocate for Firefighter/First Responder health, wellness, and safety, Rhonda contributes nutrition and wellness articles to The Maryland Fire Chief’s Back Step Talks quarterly publication and Fire Rescue Fitness. She provides educational seminars at nationwide Fire/Rescue conferences as well as for individual fire departments and colleges. She created, and hosts a podcast titled Firefighting Female which provides relevant, up to date, interesting, and entertaining topics to inspire firefighters, EMTs, Paramedics to have optimal mental and physical health from recruit to retirement.
Rhonda is an experienced clinical dietitian and certified sports nutritionist working in Rehab, Senior and Healthcare Communities. She addresses nutritional challenges related to health and performance, corrects nutritional deficiencies and improves recovery time by establishing individualized nutrition plans and dietary interventions, participates in clinical performance improvement projects and education presentations to ensure optimal rehab outcomes, and creatively assists patients in meal and supplement planning through education and cooking demonstrations.
Rhonda holds a BS in Dietetics and a BS in Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland. She is currently working on her Masters in Dietetics from the University of Rhode Island.
